Directing
Mary began directing during her final year at Birmingham University and staged a 1990’s, glitter-filled production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Her passion for directing continued into her Master’s degree at RADA/Birkbeck, where she directed an excerpt from Tadeusz Różewicz’s The Trap. During her PhD, she was able to observe the rehearsal process of new productions such as: #WeAreArrested by Can Dündar, directed by Sophie Ivatts; Day of the Living by Amy Draper, Darren Clark and Juliet Gilkes Romero; Maydays by David Edgar, directed by Owen Horsley. She has also shadowed directors Erica Whyman, Steffan Donnelly, and Tamara Harvey during rehearsals, and has undertaken a directing course led by Katie Mitchell as part of the RADA Graduate Training programme.

About the Production
“You don’t realise how tangled up your life is until it’s tangled up with someone else…”
A beekeeper and a physicist meet at a barbeque. She thinks of quantum mechanics, string theory & multiverses. He thinks of his bees, honey and ecology. Could they ever fall in love?
Translated into Welsh by Gwawr Loader, and directed by Daniel Lloyd. The production ran May–June 2024.
